COLOR DIAMOND EDUCATION

Rarity & Beauty

In recent years, natural fancy color diamonds have been fortunate to gain much popularity and attention. Their rarity and beauty have made them a highly desired item for jewelry lovers as well as collectors and investors. The rarest of the rare, only 1 in 10,000 of the world’s unearthed diamonds will be a natural colored diamond. This miracle of nature has been discovered in all variations of colors such as yellow, pink, blue, green, red, brown, and orange. Color diamonds are found in mines across the world and are a result of over a billion years of improbable and rare interactions of elements and diamonds deep in the earths mantle.

Value

There are 3 attributes that most affect value of natural fancy color diamonds.

1. Color: The rarer the color, the more valuable the diamond. Some diamonds contain secondary colors which could increase or decrease its value.

2. Intensity: The more intense the particular color, the more rare and valuable the natural color diamond.

3. Size: The larger the stone (carat size) of a particular color and intensity, the more valuable the diamond.
